This frame is really very special — take a look at the lug shorelines and filing and the little point to the front of the seat lug. It is frequently asserted that these frames were built by De Rosa — it is not true though there were some Team frames back in the s that were… However they did adopt some similar features such as the triangular shaped chainstays and heart cutout in the BB shell; on the other hand the fork crown is pure Pela… However these top of the range Benottos are exceptionally nice.
This one dating I think from is in very sound condition; its major fault is poor chrome on the fork. Columbus SL ovalised Seatpost size: It is built from Columbus SL tubing which has been ovalised. The finish is a wonderful ruby red over chrome — the chrome is excellent and the paint only has a few marks. I have a suitable Dura-Ace AX chainset, pedals and brakes which are available optionally to the buyer. The paint and chrome are both poor but I think its definitely a very good candidate for an unusual restoration.

Primarily a cosmetic issue. The indexing “clicks” were built into the derailer, not the lever. The positron system didn’t have a return spring; some models used a double cable to pull the derailer back and forth; other models used a single, semi-rigid push-pull cable. Positron was a valuable learning experience for Shimano. Their original theory was that experienced cyclists already knew how to shift, but that beginners could benefit from a system that didn’t require fine-tuning of the shift lever position.
For this reason, Positron was offered on entry-level bikes, often department-store models. This marketing theory turned out to be unworkable. The parts had to be made very cheaply to meet the price points required.
